Kranjska Gora is a ski resort with a long-standing skiing tradition. For many decades now, it has played host to men’s alpine skiing World Cup. The ski slopes are located right next to the village, with facilities that will satisfy both expert skiers and complete beginners. There are several ski schools and a ski club in the village to help you work on your skiing and snowboarding skills.

Ski jumping enthusiasts can watch the final races of the World Cup in neighbouring Planica, only a short walk away from Kranjska Gora. There are a number of designated slopes for sledging and cross-country skiing, and there are also night skiing and sledging facilities available. If however you feel the need to venture out and explore other ski areas, there is a whole range of ski resorts to choose from only some 10 km away.

On warmer days, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities. If you like cycling, you can choose between long, easy paved cycling routes meandering through meadows and forests far away from busy roads (and therefore suitable for small children), and extremely difficult mountain routes where cycling is sometimes a challenge even for the most experienced and skilled cyclists. Adrenaline-loving cyclists are catered for at the adrenaline bike park, which offers free-style mountain biking and adrenaline rides over tables, jumps, swings and other hurdles.

Mountaineers can climb one of the many mountain peaks surrounding the village on well- maintained and marked hiking trails. Alpine climbers can put their skills to test on the northern ascent to Triglav, one of the many rock walls used by top Slovenian alpine climbers who are known for their regular climbs in the Himalayas and other destinations around the world.

Those who prefer water sports can go rafting or kayaking down the rapids and pools of crystal clear waters in the upper Sava River, which originates in Kranjska Gora, and Soča. If you prefer canyoning, you can explore the breathtaking beauty of the mountains with an experienced guide who will help you slide down the river bed, jump over obstacles and navigate waterfalls. The Besna Pehta sledge slope offers fun rides in the summer, and you can slide down the mountain on a tyre at the Bedanc slide.

Golf lovers can use the facilities of the golf club situated only a few hundred meters from the apartments, and there are at least nine other stunning golf clubs about an hour’s drive away, such as Tarvisio, Finkenstein, Bled, Volčji potok, Smlednik, Lipica, Lignano, Gorica, Mokrice, etc. Many of these golf clubs are located only a few kilometres from Kranjska Gora. There are also several sand courts available for tennis enthusiasts.

Adventure seekers will find that Kranjska Gora is an excellent starting point for off-piste skiing, winter mountaineering and ice climbing on frozen waterfalls, while afternoons can be spent at the ice skating rink in the centre of the village – on your own or accompanied by your children or significant other.

Children can play at the well- maintained playgrounds while their parents relax at the foot of the mountains, eating, drinking and socializing, and enjoying the swift and friendly service at one of the local outdoor restaurants. Let your children’s imagination run wild in the Land of Kekec, a character from a Slovenian children’s film, or in the Land of Dwarfs, or take them on a trip down the Triglavfairytale trail and make sure you stop at the Ancna House in Mojstrana. They can immerse themselves in the world of fairytales and take part in creative workshops.

After an eventful day, you can unwind at one of the many wellness centres and head to dinner feeling rejuvenated and rested. Thanks to its long tradition as a tourist destination, Kranjska Gora offers a whole range of culinary delights and surprises that are guaranteed to please all tastes. After dinner, go for a stroll around the village square, see what’s on offer in the charming little shops, treat yourself to a glass of excellent wine in one of the small local bars, and if you still crave more action, head for the casino or check out the night life in one of the nearby night clubs.

There are many local restaurants serving authentic Slovenian food, although many also offer a range of Austrian and Italian dishes, which is hardly surprising considering the close proximity of these two countries. Fresh seafood is also on the menu, prepared by experienced chefs and delivered daily from the Adriatic Sea, which is only an hour and a half away from Kranjska Gora.
